State of Education in Jigawa State

Jigawa State is ready to remodel its public education. The government is focused on transforming the pupils from a state of “learning deprivation” to proficient learners. Currently, 9 in 10 pupils in Primary 1- Primary 6 do not achieve foundational literacy and 8 in 10 pupils in Primary 6 cannot perform basic arithmetic tasks. But this scenario can be changed swiftly.

Addressing the Learning Crisis

Despite the government’s dedicated efforts, gaps in education delivery and learning continue to persist in Jigawa State:

9 in 10 pupils in Primary 1-6 do not achieve foundational literacy
8 in 10 pupils in Primary 6 cannot perform basic arithmetic tasks
Nearly 96% of teachers possess insufficient professional knowledge and skills
On average, 13% of teachers are found to be absent from classrooms
